Former GOP 2016 presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina is reportedly considering throwing her hat in the ring to become the next Republican National Committee chair.
Advisers to the former Hewlett Packard CEO have been contacting state parties to up her involvement, Politico first reported. According to TIME, Fiorina’s team registered the domains for CarlyForChair.com and CarlyForRNC.com last month in preparation for her bid.
She is expected to soon go on a country-wide tour to help candidates with their elections, working with state party chairs who are responsible for choosing who holds the position.
“The past few months Carly has been helping out with major races around the country, I know she is planning to reach out to your party chairman in the next week or so, just to touch base and see if there is any way she could be helpful to Republicans in the [Insert State or Territory] this Fall,” an adviser wrote to committee chairs, according to TIME.
Her plan to succeed current RNC Chairman Reince Priebus could be hindered if GOP nominee Donald Trump takes the White House in November as the decision is traditionally picked by the commander in chief if a Republican is elected. The two had a contentious relationship during the primary, Fiorina, who was chosen by Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas as his vice presidential pick, has yet to endorse the candidate.
Priebus has not yet announced whether he will seek another term.
