The Weeknd Gives $250,000 To Black Lives Matter

Singer The Weeknd announced Wednesday he is giving $250,000 to the Black Lives Matter movement, the Associated Press reports(RELATED: Lady Gaga Voices Support For Black Lives Matter After Police Shoot Paul O’Neal)

The singer has been vocal in the past about supporting the group, even tweeting last month following the police shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, according to another report(RELATED: Caitlyn Jenner Doesn’t Want To Talk About Black Lives Matter)

“Enough is enough,” The Weeknd tweeted. “It’s time to stand up for this. We can either sit and watch, or do something about it. The time is now. #blacklivesmatter”

 


Last week the singer announced he was donating $38,000 to his hometown ‘s University of Toronto for an Ethopian Studies program.
