Roger Stone, who has advised Donald Trump formally and informally for years, says he thinks the Republican presidential nominee should release his tax returns.

Rival Hillary Clinton has been attacking Trump on the issue, suggesting he has something to hide by not releasing them.

“Yes, I think he should release his tax returns immediately,” Stone said Monday while on the Fernand Amandi Show on 610 WIOD Miami radio. The radio interview was first reported by BuzzFeed.

On Sunday, Trump’s new campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said Trump would not release his returns until after an IRS audit is finished.

“I’ve learned since being on the inside that this audit is a serious matter and that he has said that when the audit is complete, he will release his tax returns,” Conway said.

The issue of releasing tax returns harmed 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney during the last cycle: Democrats hammered him until he released them; they then used the information in the returns to bash him once Romney gave in and made them public.

Of particular interest inside Trump’s returns: his actual net worth. Is he as wealthy as he says?
