Drone camera videos have caught amazing footage of battles that took place in Aleppo, Syria, an area widely considered to be the bloodiest battle in the five-year civil war.

The stunning footage shows the intense battle between Syrian President Bashar Assad’s Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and various opposition forces. Three different videos are shown: one from a Syrian militia group, which mainly shows a SAA assault on a rebel position, a second from a Russian media source and a third from the Free Syrian Army, featuring a rebel retreat as they are fired upon by SAA forces.

Such vantage points and raw combat footage are unprecedented in war reporting. It offers a close-up view of the Syrian civil war, which has so far killed over 400,000 people.

The battle for Aleppo has been ongoing for four straight years. SAA forces and the rebel opposition spent much of that time in an essential stalemate, until SAA units were able to close off the final rebel supply route into the city in late July. Moderate rebel units then joined forces with the terror group Jabhat Fath al-Sham (JFS), formerly known as the Nusra Front, in order to break the siege. They operation was successful, but the fate of the city remains uncertain.
