It seems that the Raiders potential move from Oakland to Las Vegas is gaining some serious momentum. The Raiders organization filed trademark applications on August 20, 2016 with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the “Las Vegas Raiders” mark, Forbes reports.

Although this doesn’t by any means solidify a move, it’s another step in the Las Vegas direction for the Raiders. The San Diego Chargers made a similar move by filing for a “LA Chargers” mark, but the team remains in San Diego.

The Raiders trademark filings cover several classes including “education and entertainment services, clothing, mobile applications, football helmets, trading cards, jewelry and play figures,” Forbes reports.

Forbes also noted that the timing of the Raiders trademark filing is important.

U.S. Senator Harry Reid recently said “it would be great if the Raiders came to Las Vegas.” The Nevada senator also expressed his support for the construction of a stadium to house the city’s potential NFL addition. A plan for construction is currently under review by the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee.

The transition from Oakland to Las Vegas is still only a consideration, but it is clear that the Raiders want to be prepared whether they stay put or head to sin city.
