RNC Chair Reince Priebus told NBC’s Chuck Todd that Donald Trump’s immigration plan will be “tough,” “fair” and “humane” on “Meet the Press” Sunday.
“Here’s what I know,” Priebus stated. “[Trump’s] position is going to be tough. His position is going to be fair, but his position is going to be humane.”
“He’s going to build and complete the border wall that was set in place in 2006 by Congress,” he continued. “It’s going to be paid for.”
Priebus told Todd that when Trump “talks about deportation,” he’ll go after people who are criminals and shouldn’t be here.”
He also noted that Trump probably “over simplified” the issue of immigration during the primary.
“Here’s the thing,” Priebus explained. “He’s a guy whose going to be tougher on this issue, tougher on illegal immigration than any politician we’ve had as a nominee or ever could have as a nominee. That’s not going to change.”
