Former Stanford University swimmer Brock Turner is officially logged in the sex offender registry after arriving to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio Tuesday morning.

Turner spent three months in jail for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman behind a dumpster outside a Stanford University frat party. He was set free Friday.

He is now required to register as a sex offender every 90 days for the rest of his life, Sheriff Gene Fischer told The Daily Caller News Foundation. Turner is now prohibited from living within 1,000 feet of a school, Fischer added.

There are three classes of sex offenders, Tiers I, II and III. Brock is listed as Tier III, which is reserved for people “deemed more apt to reoffend or who committed serious crimes” needing the classification, said Fischer. Fischer believes he was given the Tier III classification due to the severity of the case.

The sheriff’s office will also have to notify all of Turner’s neighbor’s in his hometown of Sugarcreek Township, Ohio, ABC News Reports.

Turner’s neighborhood, however, is well aware of his return. Firefighters had to hose down the sidewalk in front of his house Friday, removing chalk messages written to the Turner family, WHIO reports.

“Rapist,” read one message.

Another said “Its [sic] your job to hold your son/self responsible so he/you don’t hurt my daughters.”

Turner’s hometown arrival was greeted with reporters and dozens of protestors. Some of the protestors were reportedly armed.

The duration of Turner’s jail time sparked national outrage when a judge sentenced him to six months behind bars with eligibility for release after three. Prosecutors in the case had recommended a sentencing of six years.

Turner will have to return to the sheriff’s office again by December 5 to reregister, Fischer said.
