Olive Garden continued its Labor Day tradition of catering a free lunch for first responders across the country.

The luncheon occurred for its 15th consecutive year, reports The Wilson Times. Over 800 Olive Gardens participated in feeding agencies nationwide.

The local restaurants choose which agencies they want to feed each year.

“It means that despite everything going on in the news, people still believe in us,” said Deputy E. Stewart of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee.

Antwain White, restaurant manager of Wilson’s Olive Garden, and some employees brought delivery bags of pasta, bread sticks and desserts to the sheriff’s office.

“I honestly felt it was needed to deliver to these guys. They tend to get forgotten about. I saw a sheriff the other day playing basketball with a kid in the neighborhood. It made me think, ‘Let me look out for these guys,’” White told The Wilson Times.

They choose the sheriff’s office because it is overlooked many times, White said. The Wilson Olive Garden catered to the Wilson Fire/Rescue Services last year.

“It’s just nice to be appreciated for what you do dealing with all the stuff we deal with on a regular basis,” said Deputy T. Keller. “Very few people thank you for what you do. It’s just nice.”

Another Olive Garden catered to its local fire station in Albuquerque, N.M.

“It’s great, especially on the holiday like today. Sometimes it’s busy and we’re not able to go and sit down and get something to eat. So it’s nice of them to bring it by here,” said Albuquerque Fire Department Capt. Matthew Ortega.
