Twitter users had some harsh words for Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall after he refused to stand for the national anthem Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers.

Marshall took a knee as the rest of his team stood, and early in the game found himself on the wrong end of a brutal hit. (RELATED: Team USA Hockey Coach Says He Will Bench Any Player That Sits During National Anthem)

Plenty of people on Twitter were quick to point out the fact Marshall may have found a quick dose of karma as he was being evaluated for a concussion.

Marshall eventually returned to the game after being cleared of having a concussion, and the Broncos went on to win the game 21-20. (RELATED: Hookstead’s Hot Take: America Stood Up For Colin Kaepernick, He Should Stand For The Flag)
