A reporter with a major publication was forced to recant statements after purportedly running interference for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton following widely publicized health issues.

“This is a totally ridiculous issue — for lots of reasons — and one that if Trump or his Republican surrogates continue to focus on is a surefire loser in the fall,” Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post wrote last Tuesday.

“To believe that something is seriously wrong with Clinton, you have to a) assume her doctor lied and b) that her coughing, which often happens when someone catches a cold or spends a lot of time speaking publicly, is a symptom of her deeper, hidden illness.”

“That seems unlikely to me,” Cillizza continued. In an article titled, “Hillary Clinton’s health just became a real issue in the presidential campaign,” Cillizza finally acknowledged that there might be a problem with Clinton’s health. Whether Clinton likes it or not, her “overheating” episode comes at a very bad time for her campaign.

“Thanks to the likes of Rudy Giuliani and a small but vocal element of the Republican base, talk of her health had been bubbling over the past week,” Cillizza wrote.  “I wrote dismissively of that conspiracy theory in this space last week, noting that Clinton had been given an entirely clean bill of health by her doctors after an episode in which she fainted, suffered a concussion and then was found to have a blood clot in late 2012 and early 2013.”

“Talk of Clinton’s health is no longer just the stuff of conspiracy theorists,” Cillizza concluded. He takes offense for the 90 minutes that Clinton staffers refused to allow reporters to follow the Democratic nominee, and for misleading the public by sending Clinton outside her daughter’s apartment Sunday to show she was feeling better.

The Clinton campaign announced it canceled events in California Monday.
