Republican Sen. Ted Cruz is teaming up with fellow Sen. John Cornyn to raise funds for vulnerable Senators nationwide, according to reports.

Cruz made the announcement through invitations to key Republican donors that he planned to host fundraisers with Cornyn in Houston and Dallas next month, according to an AP report published Thursday. Funds raised will go to Sens. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, Roy Blunt of Missouri, Richard Burr of North Carolina, and Chuck Grassley of Iowa.

Another event planned for Oct. 6 will raise funds for Sens. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania and Rob Portman of Ohio, but they will not speak at any of the fundraising events.

None of the Senators who will benefit from the fundraisers personally supported Cruz either during his career in the Senate, or his presidential primary run in 2016. Ayotte criticized Cruz’s support of the government shutdown, as well as for resisting funding Planned Parenthood in a recent bill.

Cruz made a significant donation Tuesday to the National Republican Senatorial Committee that will benefit struggling Senate races. He previously donated $250,000 to the NRCC in 2014.
