A Democratic congressional candidate told his opponent who is a double amputee combat veteran to “be a man, and stand” in the course of a heated discussion about a TV ad.

Democrat Randy Perkins was attacking his Republican opponent Brian Mast over a TV ad paid for by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). Perkins said the ad is untrue. Mast was defending his refusal to take action against the NRCC for running the ad, which is no longer on the air.

“You’ll let the [NRCC] do your dirty work for you, but you’re not man enough to stand behind your own ads,” Perkins said in the course of the heated discussion at a candidate forum. “So be a man, and stand behind your own ads.”

“I’m constantly a man,” Mast replied.
