ESPN pundit and SEC fanboy Paul Finebaum admitted that the Big Ten is currently the king of college football.

“Right now, repeat after me, read my lips: the Big Ten is the best conference in college football,” Finebaum said during an appearance on ESPN. (SLIDESHOW: Get College Football Started Right With These Top 25 Ranked Cheerleaders)

It’s incredibly hard to argue with Finebaum’s logic, and the rankings certainly back him up. There are four Big Ten teams in the top 10. At the same time the only SEC in the same position is Alabama.

Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan State and Michigan all appear to be legit playoff contenders. No other conference has more than a single team that appears to be capable of playing for a national championship. The Big Ten has also been very impressive in non-conference play. Ohio State wrecked Oklahoma, Michigan State beat Notre Dame, and Wisconsin’s upset of LSU has been the biggest of the season so far.

It’ll be very interesting to follow down the stretch to see how many Big Ten teams make the four-team playoff.
