Republican nominee Donald Trump bashed the “phony” debate system Monday night, labelling debate moderator Lester Holt a democrat during an appearance on Fox News.

“I have respect for Lester, Lester is a professional, but we’ll see what happens. By the way, Lester is a Democrat,” Trump said. “It’s a phony system. They are all Democrats.”

“It’s a very unfair system,” Trump added. “I’ve worked pretty well within the system. I guess by a lot of polls I’m leading many of the polls and most of the polls.”

Trump also attacked CNN’s Anderson Cooper for his unfair campaign coverage, while praising Fox News’s Chris Wallace for “fair” and “tough” coverage.

“I’m not okay with Anderson Cooper because I think he treats me very unfairly at CNN,” Trump said. “I think he’s very unfair on CNN. I think CNN – they call it the Clinton News Network, that’s why the ratings aren’t doing very well because who’s going to watch that?”

CNN edited comments the presidential nominee made Monday, asserting Trump wanted to racially profile people in order to prevent attacks like the recent bombings in Manhattan and New Jersey. Trump did mention profiling, but didn’t say how officials could single out terrorists.
