Marion Cotillard has broken her silence after being rumored to have been involved with Brad Pitt, amidst news of his divorce with Angelina Jolie.

“This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into,” the 40-year-old actress started out in a lengthy post on Instagram Wednesday night. (RELATED: Here’s The Woman Reportedly Linked To Brad Pitt [SLIDESHOW])

“I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up,” Cotillard wrote. “Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need.” (RELATED: Report: ‘No Way’ Brad Pitt Will Not Fight For Joint Custody Of Children)

“Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you,” she added. “This crafted conversation isn’t distressing. And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery.”

“Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment,” she continued. “With all my love.”

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt on Monday in a Los Angeles court, TMZ reported, citing irreconcilable differences. Another report mentions that the 41-year-old actress had hired a private investigator and discovered that Pitt was cheating on her with Cotillard.

Both Pitt and Jolie have issued separate statements asking for space and privacy as they work through custody of their children and the divorce.

“I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids,” Pitt said in a statement to People magazine, “I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”

“Angelina will always do what’s in the best interest of taking care of her family,” Jolie’s long time manager, Geyer Kosinski, told E! News in a statement. “She appreciates everyone’s understanding of their need for privacy at this time.”
