A Philadelphia police officer was arrested Tuesday after allegedly shipping marijuana through the mail.

William Branish Jr., a 14-year veteran of the force, is being charged with simple possession and possession with attempt to deliver, according to an official Philadelphia Police Department statement obtained by the Philadelphia Magazine.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s internal affairs division started to investigate Branish in January after they were tipped off to potential impropriety.

The authorities later discovered that Branish was using someone else’s mailing account at a local company in order to deter investigators. One package was returned to the company after being classified as undeliverable.

A separate employee who was not the owner of the mailing account Branish was using opened the marijuana-filled package, reports Philly Mag.

Branish has been suspended and is expected to be dismissed following the arrest.
