A new video shows students at the University of Kansas (KU) disrupting a meeting of conservative students to complain about having their feelings hurt.

The incident was sparked over a feud on Facebook. Student Micha Fox posted a comment online claiming she was harassed due to being transgender, and she began planning a Sept. 27 event called “Stand With ME.” Fellow student Gabriel Lepinski, chairman of the school’s branch of Young Americans for Freedom (YAF), shared the event with group members to criticize it.

“[T]his is why this group is so important,” she said. “Facts don’t care about your feelings, even if you shout them as loudly as you can on wescoe beach [a popular campus location.]”

Lepinski’s dismissive attitude got out to Fox and her allies, and so they decided to attend YAF’s meeting Thursday to complain about it. More than a half hour of the meeting was captured on video and subsequently put on YouTube by Young America’s Foundations, YAF’s parent organization.

Lepinski told Campus Reform she welcomed the Stand With ME crowd as long as they brought an open mind, but she said the event quickly “dissolved into them arguing with us for being white supremacists because we are white.”

Much of the argument in the video revolves around the idea of safe spaces, which Cox says are an absolute necessity with no room for dissent, due to an allegedly omnipresent threat of murder on campus.

“It’s not a question. It’s not for you to say,” she says. “It’s not for anyone else to say. Safe spaces are necessary because the institution that we’re at is not a safe space … We have to carve out places and fight for places that we feel safe because not only will we get harassed, we’ll be murdered.”

During the heated encounter, one attendee claimed that when Lepinksi said “facts don’t care about your feelings,” she really meant to have the word “fags” instead of “facts.” The phrase, though, is a frequent quip by conservative journalist Ben Shapiro, who has appeared on several campuses as a YAF-sponsored speaker. Repeatedly, the YAF members are aggressively attacked over the words they choose. At one point, for instance, a YAF member refers to “blacks,” and is quickly (and aggressively) told she has to use the phrase “black people” instead.

At another point, Cox began shouting in frustration after YAF members failed to use her preferred pronoun of “they.”

“My pronouns are they!” she cried out, bringing in the support of another interloper at the meeting.

“From now on, when you speak to them, you use they/them/their, because we’ve shown you the respect to refer to you by your name, so from now on you will refer to them as they, because that is the appropriate thing to do when you are above the age of fucking 12,” the man says, his voice quivering in anger.

Eventually, the outbursts turn into a series of attacks on the YAF members, who are accused of “white fragility” and outright “white supremacy.”

“Yes, I am calling you, and you can get it on video, I am calling you a white supremacist,” a student says to Lepinski.

Despite the repeated attacks, at the end of the video a YAF member announces that another meeting will be held the following week, and that they are welcome to return if they wish.

“Every single parent sending a child to college should watch this video in its entirety,” YAF spokeswoman Emily Jashinsky said in a statement to The Daily Caller News Foundation. “What you see in the clip seems comically bizarre, but it’s actually an accurate snapshot of how radical the academic left has become. When you consider the fact that these students learned most of the critically flawed arguments they employed from professors, it stops being funny and starts to become a wake up call.”
