University of Nebraska regent Hal Daub wants Cornhuskers football players who sit during the national anthem to be kicked off of the team.

“It’s a free country. They don’t have to play football for the university either. They know better, and they had better be kicked off the team,” Daub told the Lincoln Journal Star.

Currently three Nebraska football players — Michael Rose-Ivey, DaiShon Neal and Mohamed Barry — are refusing to stand for the national anthem and flag, according to the same report. (RELATED: Hookstead’s Hot Take: America Stood Up For Colin Kaepernick, He Should Stand For The Flag)

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s decision to not stand during the national anthem has sparked outrage across the country and support from some other athletes.

It is highly unlikely college football players will be removed from their teams, but they’re certainly not protected from criticism.
