Dave Weigel’s Mustache Heats Up On CNN

For several months now, Washington Post reporter Dave Weigel has been sporting a mustache.

He’s not the only political reporter who has added facial hair to his 2016 repertoire. HuffPost senior politics editor Sam Stein has recently displayed a facial forest that is growing by the day.

Here’s Weigel on CNN Friday. He looks like he’s going wood chopping.

But look closer — at least he’s wearing red, white and blue.

 

Of course he got a lot of crap for it on Twitter.

“I think I bought weed from @daveweigel in 1973,” said Jeet Heer, senior editor for The New Republic. “He had some tart comments about Agnew.”

“Fully supportive of @daveweigel’s woodsman Friday style on CNN right now,” said Brian Ries, who handles social media for CNN.

A few remarked that Weigel was “letting his freak flag fly.”

One follower asked, “Still on your original liver though, right?”

Weigel said only, “Almost cut my hair.”
