Harvard University is asking for a police investigation after several students received a random email promoting Republican nominee Donald Trump’s candidacy while voicing certain white nationalist tropes.

The email, carrying the subject line “Fight White Genocide – Vote Trump!” was received by several Harvard undergraduates Sunday, including leaders of the College Democrats and College Republicans. According to The Harvard Crimson, the email warned that European-heritage countries are being inundated with non-white immigrants.

“ALL White countries and ONLY White countries are being flooded with third world non-Whites, and Whites are forced by law to integrate with them so as to ‘assimilate,’ i.e. intermarry and be blended out of existence,” the email says. “Massive immigration and forced assimilation is called genocide when it’s done in Tibet. When it’s done in White countries it’s called ‘diversity.’ Diversity is a code word for White Genocide.”

The email also includes some material targeted at Harvard students. (RELATED: Harvard Republicans Bash Trump Using Fake Quote)

“Your professors say they’re anti-racist. What they are is anti-White,” it says.

The email is signed by Educators and Students Against White Genocide, a subgroup of the White Genocide Project, a website that promotes white nationalism online.

While the email appears to be little more than spam, and includes no threatening content, Harvard has still reacted in a very serious manner. According to the Crimson, dean of the college Rakesh Khurana has asked for a police investigation into the emails, though it isn’t clear what law — if any — the message may have broken.

In a Tuesday blog post, the White Genocide Project ridiculed Harvard for turning to the police over the matter.

“Dean Khurana’s response illustrates perfectly that you cannot have diversity and free speech,” the post argues.
