Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence fired back after Democratic veep nominee Tim Kaine called the Trump campaign “insult driven” Tuesday evening.

WATCH:

After fighting for his allotted time according to the rules of the debate, Pence tore into the Democratic nominee. He called Trump’s insults “small potatoes” compared to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton calling half of Trump’s supporters deplorable.

“He’s going to call ours an insult driven campaign? did you all just hear that? Ours is an insult driven campaign,” Pence asked.

“To be honest with you, if Donald Trump had said all the things you said he said, in the way that you say he said them, he still wouldn’t have a fraction of the insult that Hillary Clinton leveled when she said that half of our supporters were a basket of deplorables,” he said.

“She said they were irredeemable, they were not American. I mean it’s extraordinary, and then she laid one after another all of the isms, millions of Americans who believe in the strength of America, who believe that we can get the economy moving again, and believe that we can end illegal immigration once and for all.”

Clinton made news when she said half of Trump’s supporters are in the “basket of deplorables.”
