Around 74 percent of Republican voters want their party officials to continue supporting presidential nominee Donald Trump, a new poll from Politico/ Morning Consult says. According to the poll, only 13 percent of GOP voters believe party officials should dump Trump.

The poll was conducted immediately after 2005 audio of Trump making sexually lewd comments about a woman to “Access Hollywood’s” Billy Bush was released Friday by The Washington Post.

Between the two parties, voters see the issue very differently. According to the survey, 70 percent of Democrats think Trump should drop out and only 12 percent of Republicans say the same.

Since Trump’s controversial remarks were unveiled, several Republican Party leaders and members have either called for Trump to step down from the ticket or have withdrawn their endorsements. (RELATED: Here Are The Republicans Calling On Trump To Withdraw)

Trump tweeted out Saturday that he will “never drop out of the race.”

About 39 percent of voters believe Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump should end his campaign, while just marginally more voters — 45 percent — say he should stay in the race.

However, Trump still trails Clinton by four points in a four-way race going into the second presidential debate Sunday in St. Louis.

Trump posted a video of himself late Friday night apologizing for the 11 year old remarks he made, but took shots at both Bill and Hillary Clinton saying their actions against women are much worse.

A throng of Trump supporters came out to Trump Towers on Saturday and the New York billionaire made a brief appearance waving to the crowd.

Morning Consult polled 1,549 registered voters, with 1,390 likely voters. The margin of error for the survey results is plus or minus two percentage points, and three percentage points for likely voters.
