GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump blasted House Speaker Paul Ryan on Twitter Monday for telling people that he wouldn’t defend or campaign with the billionaire during a conference call earlier in the day.

“Paul Ryan should spend more time on balancing the budget, jobs and illegal immigration and not waste his time on fighting Republican nominee,” he tweeted, despite the speaker’s endorsement remaining intact.

A source on the morning call said Ryan plans on focusing his energy into holding vulnerable House and Senate seats that are potentially at risk due to Trump’s latest scandal.

Ryan disinvited Trump to a campaign event in Wisconsin, attended by Gov. Scott Walker and Sen. Ron Johnson, following the leak of a 2005 video catching the candidate on a hot mic making lewd comments about women.

Tensions between the two have run high throughout the 2016 election cycle, with Ryan regularly condemning  the candidate’s more controversial proposals and remarks.

The speaker was initially hesitant to endorse the candidate, but opted to throw his support behind him in June. Trump returned the favor, initially opting not to endorse the top Republican until the last minute and repeatedly complimenting his primary opponent on numerous occasions.
