A Democratic political group has filed a complaint with the FBI against Trump surrogate Roger Stone, alleging he is connected to the hack of Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s email.

The group alleges that Stone, of sartorial splendor and ill repute, had advanced knowledge of the hack, which was likely perpetrated by cyber actors near to the Russian government. The Democratic Coalition Against Trump, the group which filed the complaint, calls for Stone’s prosecution for cyber-terrorism and treason.

“As our Coalition has released over the past few days, there is a real and concerning connection between Donald Trump, Russia, and Vladimir Putin,” Coalition Senior Advisor Scott Dworkin said in a statement. “It’s not surprising that his campaign would have involvement with the most recent string of hacks and attacks on the American electoral system.”

The group points to comments Stone made in August, which predicted that Podesta’s emails would be compromised.

“We believe that Roger Stone had forewarning of the hack, based on a statement he made in August 2016 that Podesta’s emails would be next, and that he and the campaign have been working with a foreign government to influence an American election,” the complaint reads.

Stone previously denied the allegations to The Daily Caller, characterizing the same charge, levied by Podesta himself, as a “vile smear.” (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: Roger Stone Responds To Podesta’s ‘Vile Smear’ That He Is In Cahoots With WikiLeaks)

“I had no advanced knowledge,” he said. “They don’t tell me who they’re hacking, they don’t tell me who they’re not hacking, and I’m not clearing what they put out. It’s an absurdity, it would be funny if it wasn’t so outrageous.”

Stone acknowledged he has had contact with WikiLeaks outlaw Julian Assange, but stressed they have taken place through an intermediary and did not concern the details and particulars of pending disclosures.
