Russian President Vladimir Putin has “outsmarted” Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton “every step of the way,” according to Republican nominee Donald Trump.
“Putin has outsmarted her and Obama every single step of the way,” said Trump during Wednesday night’s presidential debate, the last of three in the race.
Clinton attacked Trump for his apologetic attitude toward Putin, alluding to the idea that Trump is the Kremlin’s preferred candidate in the election. She pointed to Russia’s alleged involvement in the recent hacks against the Democratic Party and Clinton campaign officials as evidence.
When asked if he condemns Russia’s involvement in the hacks, Trump said “of course” he condemns it. He went on to say “I don’t know Putin,” only that the Russian leader had said “nice things” about him.
