Ezekiel Emanuel, one of the architects of the Affordable Care Act, told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Tuesday that more than one million Americans will see “severe or uncomfortable” increases in their insurance premiums in the near future.

“I don’t know if that fully covers all of the increase, but even if it does, that’s more than a million Americans who are going to not have help and will see increases, on average, of 25 percent,” Tapper posed. “That’s a lot of money for the average American.”

“Jake, totally agree with you,” Emanuel stated. “There’s a million people for whom this is going to be severe or uncomfortable.”

“We should be clear though, there are some places where the increases are nowhere near what you’re stating,” he added.
