Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo recently criticized President Barack Obama for supposedly “immoral” support of the fracking industry.

“President Obama, it is immoral for you to keep drilling in our state lands, in our federal lands, off our federal waters, while at the same time calling yourself a climate change leader,” the left-wing actor told a crowd Wednesday at Los Angeles rally against the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Ruffalo produced a film in March entirely dedicated to raking Obama over the coals for continuing to allow natural gas exploration on public lands.  His take on global warming in “Dear President Obama: The Clean Energy Revolution is Now” essentially lays out the ways in which the president has supposedly failed as a climate change warrior.

The president’s record is splotchy, Ruffalo wrote in a Huffington Post editorial leading up to the film’s premier, because it includes things like investing in renewable energies, as well as issuing strong rhetoric against so-called global warming deniers, but also includes support for natural gas development.

Obama, for his part, told Ruffalo’s buddy, actor Leonardo DiCaprio, in September during a White House panel that environmentalists should ease back on criticizing the fracking industry.

“If you are a working class family, and dad has to drive 50 miles to get to his job, the most economically important decision for him is to have low prices,” Obama said at an event leading up to the opening of DiCaprio’s latest documentary on global warming.

DiCaprio mirrors most of Ruffalo’s environmental positions. He spent much of the year at press junkets for his movies blasting what he calls the “corporate greed” associated with the fossil fuel industry. He even praised the anti-pipeline protesters in North Dakota during his comments at the White House.
