GOP New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte slammed her Democratic opponent, Gov. Maggie Hassan, in an ad released Monday for standing by Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in the wake of the FBI reopening its investigation into her private email server.

The 30-second digital spot, titled “Dodges,” uses a series of news clips discussing the agency’s decision to re-up the probe followed by a clip of the New Hampshire governor skirting around a question on whether she thinks the former secretary of state is honest.

“Maggie Hassan: Not honest about Hillary Clinton’s dishonesty.” the screen says at the end of the clip.

The Ayotte camp blasted Hassan for allegedly pandering to Clinton instead of thinking about the voters’ needs.

“It’s clear that Gov. Hassan thinks it’s more important to make excuses for Hillary Clinton than to talk straight with Granite Staters, which is political calculation at its worst,” spokeswoman Liz Johnson said in a statement. “It’s deeply troubling that Hassan is either blind to basic facts or so beholden to the Clinton machine that she can’t level with voters.”

The New Hampshire Senate race is one of the closest in the country, with the candidates currently polling within the margin of error in the latest UNH/WMUR9 survey.
