The son of Clinton Campaign Chairman John Podesta, Air Force Judge Advocate Gabe Podesta, took a shot at Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders for having a “racial blind spot.”

During the Democratic presidential primary, a March 7, 2016 email, which surfaced from a reported hack of the elder Podesta’s account that wound up on WikiLeaks, shows Gabe writing to his father:

“Is Bernie’s racial blindspot that he thinks all black people live in ‘the ghetto?’”

The email had been sent in the wake of remarks made by Sanders when he said during a Democratic debate, “When you’re white, you don’t know what it’s like to be living in a ghetto.” He added, “You don’t know what it’s like to be poor.”

Sanders was roundly criticized for his comment and later tried to clarify his statement the next day saying, “What I meant to say, is when you talk about ghettos, traditionally what you’re talking about is African-American communities.”
