Hillary Clinton said on Tuesday that she wants to make peace with Donald Trump.

The Democratic nominee — during a radio interview with Detroit’s Channel 955 — was asked if she thinks she could ever reconcile with Trump, considering the increasingly vitriolic tone of the 2016 campaign.

“Well, I would hope so,” Clinton answered. “I have to confess, I — and I think you could talk to a lot of people in New York who also knew him — We just have been surprised by a lot of what he has said and the kind of things that he’s done in this campaign or that we’ve learned about.”

Clinton’s statement mirrors another she made at the Al Smith Dinner back in October.

According to US News, Clinton and Trump shared a “moment” after both nominees had delivered prepared remarks at the charity event.

Trump reportedly told Clinton that she was a “tough and talented woman” before adding that “this has been a good experience, this whole campaign, as tough as it’s been.”

The former secretary of state responded by noting that “whatever happens, we need to work together afterward.”
