People are reporting their votes for Republican nominee Donald Trump are being switched to votes for Hillary Clinton by polling machines in Pennsylvania.
Election officials in Clinton Township of Butler County confirmed there was a problem with two of their eight voting machines, which were flipping votes most often when people tried to vote straight party ticket. Some voters told a local outlet their ballots for Trump were being switched “before their eyes” to Clinton.
“I went back, pressed Trump again,” one voter told CBS. “Three times I did this, so then I called one of the women that were working the polls over. And she said you must be doing it wrong. She did it three times and it defaulted to Hillary every time.”
Officials said they “recalibrated” the machines and they are now operating normally.
Voters in Lebanon County, Pa., reported similar problems. The director of the county bureau of elections confirmed five of the six machines were switching straight Republican tickets to straight Democratic tickets, because there was a problem with their calibration. A software engineer came to the location and solved the problem in each machine.
Officials in both counties encouraged all voters to review their votes and notify election officials of any problems.
