The strategist behind President Barack Obama’s two presidential victories said he’s “never been as wrong” on anything in his life as betting Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton would win Tuesday night’s election.

David Plouffe, Obama’s political guru, was confident Clinton would cruise to victory back in September, but admitted he was wrong as Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump swept several key states in Tuesday’s election.

In September, Plouffe told The Washington Post he was confident Clinton would win in a landslide in November.

“I can get Donald Trump to within two or three in Pennsylvania, but I can’t get him to a win number. The same is true in Virginia and Colorado,” Plouffe said.

“I know everybody goes crazy about the latest Cheetos poll, but I feel very confident about both New Hampshire and Florida,” he told the Post. “So that puts [Clinton] over 300 [in the electoral college]. Trump has to pull off a miracle in the electoral college.”

That doesn’t seem to be the case. The New York Times gives Trump a more than 95 percent chance of winning at the time this article was written.
