Apparently, #NeverTrump Is Supposed To Do Something Now?

So I’m told.

Well, as I understood it, #NeverTrump meant I was never voting for Trump. Period. It wasn’t a movement, as it was continuously mislabeled. It was a statement: “Do what you’re gonna do, you guys, but I can’t be a part of it.”

I kept my promise. I did not vote for Donald Trump. And Hillary Clinton lost anyway. Decisively! All the people who screamed at me for months that I was dooming America to President Killary were worrying over nothing.

So it’s the best of both worlds. I didn’t waver, and Hillary will never be president. I’m fine with that. More than fine, I’m relieved. I’m not out in the streets throwing a temper tantrum over it. Trump won, fair and square. I didn’t think he would, but he did. The voters have spoken. He’s my president.

But he’s not my liege. I will not bend the knee. (Hell, I couldn’t even if I wanted to.) All my criticisms of Donald Trump stand. They don’t magically go away just because he won.

I’ve spent the past 8 years resisting Obama’s cult of personality. I’ve refused to succumb to their groupthink. If you expect me to give in now because it’s the other party’s groupthink, you don’t know me very well.

I can’t speak for any of the other people who declared themselves #NeverTrump, which is the entire point. But if you want to know what I intend to do next, here you go:

I’m going to do the same thing I’ve been doing since I took on this dumb pseudonym. I’ll continue to express my honest opinions about the events of the day. If you like it, that’s fine. If you don’t like it, that’s also fine.

When I agree with President Trump, I’ll say so. When I don’t, I won’t pretend otherwise.

When his opponents make a fair point, I’ll concede it. When they throw temper tantrums, I’ll mock them for it. When they lie, I’ll call them on it.

Same deal as always. If you haven’t had a problem with it for the past decade, why would you have a problem with it now?

As I told libs four years ago: You won. Get over it.

Okay. Good talk.

#ImWithAmerica #MakeHerGreatAgain

P.S. She hasn’t been seen since she tweeted this. I think she’s gone into hiding. Thanks, President-Elect Trump!

P.P.S. As usual, the mighty David Burge sums it up.

People are tired of being called racists and misogynists and all the other -ists. The Democrats have lied about them for 8 years, demonized them, and they resent the hell out of it. I disagree with Trump voters that he’s the solution, but all these lefties doubling down on the shrieking and name-calling and open-letter-writing is just going to alienate them even further.

Clearly, our moral, ethical, and intellectual betters don’t know any other way. So be it.
