To the Hillary mean girls,

The people responding to Donald Trump’s win by ridiculing and disrespecting the women who voted for Trump. The women blaming them for “ruining the country,” referring to them as “fucking dumb,” accusing them of whoring out their humanity for the sake of the white race, and declaring they can no longer be your friends: This isn’t helping anyone.

Your candidate ran on identity politics and lost. Your intolerance of people who don’t think like you may have helped put Trump in the White House, and your assumption that women vote based on nothing more than their sex was wrong.

Your narrative was rejected, but rather than even consider rethinking your approach, you’re doubling down. What do you not understand about this? Most women don’t want to sit at your table or join your sisterhood.

Republicans just took control of the White House, the Congress, and the balance of power in the Supreme Court. They control more state legislatures than at any other point in history, and they sit in two out of every three governor’s mansions. The party hasn’t been this dominant on the federal and state level since the 1920s.

But there is a choice.

You can take this opportunity to put your big-girl pants on and have a conversation with people who disagree with you, or you can keep shouting “racist!” until you’re red in the face. You can start listening to — and debating with — the other side, or you can dismiss out of hand anyone who comes to a different conclusion from you. You can hear differing opinions, or you can continue pretending you personally are the one true diviner of the moral code we all ought to live by.

Regardless of what you decide, the rest of the country will be having what’s called a debate on trade, health care, abortion, immigration and other issues that matter to women, using logic and reason to persuade people to points of view.

You’re welcome to join us. Or you can just keep screaming. We’re happy to drink from your fountain of tears.

Seriously, they’re delicious.
