The Independent Doctors Association released video showing the live bombing of a pediatric hospital in Aleppo Friday.
Russia and Syria routinely target hospitals in rebel-held areas of Aleppo to try and compel their surrender. Humanitarian organizations estimate nearly 250,000 Syrians remain inside the rebel-held areas, where no humanitarian aid convoys have been allowed to go to in months.
Russia and Syria renewed the bombardment of Aleppo Tuesday after a nearly 3-week lull in fighting, ostensibly to allow civilians to flee the city. The Syrian Observatory of Human Rights puts Saturday’s death toll alone at 289 people.
“This is the heaviest bombardment I have seen in the past five years,” an Aleppo-based rescue worker told CNN.
