A group of Trump supporters were kicked out of a Washington, D.C. bar on Saturday because they refused to remove their “Make America Great Again” hats.

One of the men involved, George McIntyre, tweeted a video Sunday morning showing the altercation that occurred at Café Citron the previous night.

McIntyre told The Daily Caller that he was at the bar for about an hour before a bouncer singled out his group of friends, directing them to “exit please or take your hat off”. When McIntyre asked why the group must leave, the bouncer can be heard saying, “I am asking you one more time. Take your hat off and go outside or stay and take your hat off!”

McIntyre said that other customers at the bar noticed the altercation and some even attempted to knock his hat off. One customer managed to steal a hat from McIntyre’s friend before the group finished their drinks and exited the bar.

Once outside, McIntyre and his friends were surprised to find that the bar had called the police.

“By the time we got out, there were police there. They were lined up waiting for us to leave. Maybe they thought it was a disturbance,” McIntyre explained. “It was maybe a five-second interaction with the police. I just thanked them for coming out.”

McIntyre says the police did not file a report on the incident.

“So what just happened was, we left the Café Citron. We were asked to leave and we had a couple people try to take our hats off,” McIntyre can be heard saying at the end of his Twitter video. “One of our hats was stolen…. We got the bouncer recorded trying to kick us out for our hats just because we were wearing ‘Make America Great Again’ hats.”

Despite the altercation, McIntyre says he has no ill-will towards the bar but he hopes to shed light on the treatment he received on Saturday. “I think’s it’s important that people see what’s going on out there and how there is this double standard,” he explains.

Café Citron did not respond to TheDC’s request for comment on the incident.
