An eight-month-old infant girl survived being thrown from a car during an accident, and was found under the grate of a storm drain 25 feet away from the scene of the accident.

The car carrying the baby and four others flipped over after a truck sideswiped the vehicle on Interstate 30 near Texarkana, Ark., Friday night, CNN affiliate KSLA reports.

After the accident, survivors and first responders searched frantically for the baby girl, who had not been properly secured in her car seat, according to police. One man assisting at the scene said he had heard a sound coming from near a storm drain in the median.

They found the girl practically unhurt.

“The baby … was sitting up and looking up at us waiting for us to pull her out,” Josh Moore, a Texarkana firefighter who responded to the crash, told WSLA.

The paramedics said the baby had no visible injuries except for a small scratch on her forehead. “There had to be some kind of divine intervention for her to end up being OK,” Moore said.

Every survivor but the car driver has been released from the hospital, CNN reports. The truck driver was cited for an improper and unsafe lane change.
