A politician from Virginia is now facing controversy for tweets he wrote years ago that many see as sexist, homophobic, and racist.

Wes Bellamy, the vice mayor of Charlottesville, Va., wrote “This is true tho” is response to another user who said, “If your man asks how many ni**as you fucked… Call him a fa**ot.”

He also tweeted, “I’m all for equal opportunity..but a Female Principal with a school full of female teachers is fkn a sure fire way to fk up our lil boys smh” in January 2012.

And in December 2009, Bellamy exclaimed, “I DONT LIK WHIT PEOPLE SO I HATE WHITE SNOW!!!!! FML!!!!”

Another tweet some found questionable was from October 2011, when Bellamy responded with “Word…” in reference to another user who tweeted, “Eat it while she asleep if she moan it aint rape.”

And when another user tweeted “This weekend I’ll be on a whitegirl diet u ni**ers should try it,” Bellamy responded with “A Rape charge waiting to happen” in March 2013.

The tweets were discovered by a local blogger named Jason Kessler who publicized the posts.

Bellany has apologized, saying, “I sincerely apologize for the inappropriate things I posted to social media many years ago.”

“I’m learning to be a better man, community leader, educator, public servant and overall person. Since then, I’ve worked every day to become a better version of myself,” he said in a statement.
