The German domestic intelligence agency (BfV) failed to uncover two major red flags when it hired a new counter-extremism officer in April.

Not only did the 51-year-old plan to bomb the BfV headquarters after leaking classified information to Islamist networks, he also starred in several gay porn films, The Washington Post reported Wednesday.

The alias he used as a prospective terrorist on Salafist online chat rooms was in fact the same as his stage name in the gay porn industry.

Der Spiegel reported the man, originally from Spain, had been arrested Tuesday for leaking internal information on top of planning an attack on the BfV headquarters. (RELATED: German Counter-Extremism Officer Arrested For Planning Jihadi Attack On Intelligence HQs)

“He is accused of making Islamist remarks online under a false name, and offering internal information during chats,” a BfV spokesman said Tuesday.

Agents lured him into a private chat and were quickly able to identify him from the kind of information he shared. When BfV officials researched the man’s online name further they came across his history as a gay porn star.

The suspect’s wife and four children claim they didn’t know he converted to Islam in 2014 or that he spent a lot of time on extremist websites.

German military intelligence recently exposed 20 Islamists in its own ranks, while 60 others are under investigation.(RELATED: Germany Exposes 20 Jihadists In Its Military)

The military counterespionage services previously reported 64 suspected Islamists, 268 suspected right-wing extremists and six left-wing extremists were under investigation.

The German government will impose increased security checks on everyone applying to join the military starting next June.
