The daughter of the president-elect and the climate change activist met at Trump Tower in Manhattan around lunchtime. Gore said he also met with Donald Trump.

“I had a lengthy and very productive session with the president-elect,” Gore told reporters in the lobby of Trump Tower after his meetings. “It was a sincere search for areas of common ground. I had a meeting beforehand with Ivanka Trump. The bulk of the time was with the president-elect, Donald Trump. I found it an extremely interesting conversation, and to be continued, and I’m just going to leave it at that.”

Trump spokesman Jason Miller did not provide any further details about the meeting beforehand, but it came just days after a source said Ivanka wants to serve as climate czar in her father’s administration.

A source who is reportedly close to Ivanka told Politico that she “wants to make climate change — which her father has called a hoax perpetuated by the Chinese — one of her signature issues.” (Report: Ivanka Trump Is Moving Her Family To Washington)

“The issues she’s talking about are ones she’s always talked about,” the source told Politico.

“These are totally consistent with what she’s developed with her brand. She is playing a critical role in being able to have issues that moderate and liberal women care about — and creating a bridge to the other side.”

In May, Gore said Trump’s position on climate change “should concern everyone.”

“He has said some things on the climate crisis that I think should concern everyone,” Gore said during an interview with the “Today” show. “I’m not Pollyanna-ish, but I do think that there is still some basis for hope.”
