Democrats nationwide responded quickly to the fact that Republican president-elect Donald Trump earned the title of TIME Magazine’s Person of the Year, equating Trump to Nazi dictator and consummate boogeyman Adolf Hitler.
Hitler was TIME’s man of the year in 1938, and Soviet leader Josef Stalin earned the title in 1939. Democrats have a history of equating Trump with Hitler and did so throughout the 2016 election cycle.
Writers, news outlets, and individual thinkers led the charge on Twitter, launching an attack on the president-elect within hours after the news broke of TIME’s nomination.
Time Person of the Year:
1938: Hitler
1939: Stalin
1971: Nixon
1979: Ayatollah Khomeini
2007: Putin
2016: Trump pic.twitter.com/1NzNfMPnRZ— James Melville (@JamesMelville) December 7, 2016
Congrats to authoritarian lunatic Trump who joins deranged tyrants, Hitler, Stalin and Putin as TIME’s ‘Person of the Year’.

Another user was more on the nose about his Trump, Hitler comparison, putting the two covers together in his tweet.
Then: “Heil Hitler!”
Now: “Heil Trump!” pic.twitter.com/iBJTX3Qlfc— Common Gay Boy (@CGBPosts) December 7, 2016
Republicans were quick to strike back at the absurdity, with user “neontaster” noting that Hitler ate food, whereas Trump also eats food.
Hitler – eating
Stalin – eating
Saddam – eating
Trump – eatingTruly chilling. pic.twitter.com/azF51XHjZC

Kaley Khan also noted that the 2005 person of the year for TIME Magazine was the American people, meaning that if Democratic logic holds, everyone is Hitler.
Time’s Person of the Year in 2005 was YOU! You are literally Hitler
