One of the nation’s top admirals took a dig at Colin Kaepernick Wednesday, telling a crowd of Pearl Harbor veterans that they “never failed to stand” during the national anthem.

Navy Adm. Harry Harris, commander of U.S. Pacific Command, made his remarks in a speech commemorating the 75th anniversary of the attacks on the Hawaiian naval base, which dealt a disastrous blow to the U.S. Navy at the time.

“You can bet that the men and women we honor today, and those who died that fateful morning 75 years ago, never took a knee and never failed to stand whenever they heard our national anthem being played,” said Harris.

His words earned him a boisterous standing ovation from the crowd.

Harris’ comments were a clear criticism of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick who refused to stand during the playing of the national anthem at football games, instead choosing to take a knee. San Francisco is on an 11-game losing streak under Kaepernick, who went 1 for 5 in passing with a total of 4 yards in his last game.
