President-elect Donald Trump released a statement that appears to blame “Islamist terrorists” for the attack on a Berlin Christmas market Monday.

“Innocent civilians were murdered in the streets as they prepared to celebrate the Christmas holiday,” said Trump. “ISIS and other Islamist terrorists continually slaughter Christians in their communities and places of worship as part of their global jihad.”

Officials report nine people were killed in the attack, while more than 50 were injured.

Trump noted that radical Islamic terrorist networks must be “eradicated” and that he will work with “all freedom-loving partners” to do so.

“Today there were terror attacks in Turkey, Switzerland and Germany — and it is only getting worse,”  Trump said in a tweet after the attacks. “The civilized world must change thinking!”

German officials have yet to determine who is responsible, and the Islamic State hasn’t officially taken credit for the attack. ISIS usually uses one of its propaganda media outlets, such as the Amaq news agency, to credit itself for terrorist attacks across the globe.

Officials detained one suspect who was near the scene of the crime, while another dead man was found inside the truck used to commit the crime.
