The president of the Philippines blew up after a United Nations (U.N.) official called for a murder investigation.

President Rodrigo Duterte bragged about killing criminal suspects when he was mayor in a speech at the presidential palace last Monday.

“In Davao I used to do it personally, just to show to the guys (police) that if I can do it, why can’t you,” Duterte said. “I would just patrol the streets, looking for trouble. I was really looking for a confrontation so I could kill.”

“I don’t know how many bullets from my gun went inside their bodies. It happened and I cannot lie about it,” Duterte told BBC reporters.

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein said Tuesday that Duterte’s actions “clearly constitute murder” and called for an investigation.

“It is unthinkable for any functioning judicial system not to launch investigative and judicial proceedings when someone has openly admitted being a killer,” the commissioner explained.

“This guy (Zeid) is ever the joker or crazy,” Duterte said in a televised speech Thursday, reports Reuters.

“You U.N. officials, sitting there on your asses, we pay you your salaries. You idiot, do not tell me what to do … Who gave you the right?” he said, while repeatedly calling Zeid “stupid.”

“Please shut up because your brain is lacking there,” he continued, “Go back to school. You United Nations, you do not know diplomacy. You do not know how to behave to be an employee of the United Nations.”

“Your understanding of international law is lacking. We are the ones contributing to the United Nations. You morons! You sons of whores! And I pay your salaries. Do not open your mouth there. I employ you,” he firmly asserted.

“You do not talk to me like that, you son of a bitch,” the president concluded.

Duterte has come under fire for the more than 6,000 deaths in his ongoing drug war, allegedly running death squads during his time as mayor, and now, for admitting that he murdered suspects.

The president’s foul-mouthed tirades and support for violence have created a rift between the Philippines and the U.N., as well as the U.S. and Europe.

“You go and file a complaint in the United Nations. I will burn down the United Nations if you want. I will burn it down if I go to America,” Duterte said Sunday.

Duterte has on numerous occasions bashed the U.N. for what he perceives as an inability to act and properly address real global problems.
