According to Mediaite, Lachlan Murdoch, the executive chairman of 21st Century Fox, offered Kelly a financial package that included $25 million a year over the next four years if she stayed to host her prime time cable news show. “We are told, unequivocally, that Kelly never even countered Fox’s generous $100 million offer, because she had made up her mind to move on,” Mediaite reported Wednesday. “In fact, the Fox offer is far higher financially than the one she ultimately accepted from NBC.”

On Tuesday, Kelly confirmed that she was leaving.

“After more than a dozen years at Fox News, I have decided to pursue a new challenge,” she said at the end of her show Tuesday night.

“This was a tough decision for me because I love this show, our staff, my crew, my colleagues here at Fox, and you — all of you.” (RELATED: People Are Losing Their Minds Over The Way Megyn Kelly Wore Her Hair Last Night)
