From 2009-2016, insulting or mocking the president’s kids was a career-ending offense. But now it’s back in a big way! Our moral, ethical, and intellectual betters on the left are lining up to pick on 10-year-old Barron Trump, because it makes them feel better about losing an election to his dad. Never mind that Barron’s just a kid. Never mind that he didn’t choose any of this. It’s OK to go after him, because he’s a child of wealth and privilege who’s not named Sasha or Malia.
You’d think Chelsea Clinton would know what Barron is going through and stand up for him. When she was not much older than Barron is, Rush Limbaugh made fun of her. It was wrong, because she was just a little girl. She was just living in the same house as her mom and dad.
And at first glance, it looks like she’s defending Barron now that it’s happening to him. But only if you don’t take a second glance.
Here’s a brief statement Chelsea posted to Facebook on Sunday:
Barron Trump deserves the chance every child does-to be a kid. Standing up for every kid also means opposing POTUS policies that hurt kids.
First of all, if every child deserves the chance to be a kid, why is it such a great thing to kill kids in the womb? Why should I be forced to pay for it?
And then look at what Chelsea does. To paraphrase: “Stop picking on this little boy. It’s not his fault that his dad hurts children!” She’s hiding behind a child to launch a political attack at the man who defeated her mother. She can’t just say, “This isn’t about politics, it’s about human decency. Leave him alone.” She has to work in a partisan shot. She’s just more subtle about it than Limbaugh was. (But then, who isn’t?)
I can’t figure out which one Chelsea got her prison-yard shanking skills from: Bill or Hillary? Bill, probably. Her mom is much clumsier when trying to surreptitiously slide a blade between an opponent’s ribs.
Can’t wait until her inevitable run for president, huh?
