Samsung presented its reasoning Monday for why some Galaxy Note 7 devices exploded, mainly blaming defects in batteries provided by outside manufacturers.

The South Korean-based company also expressed remorse for the damage the exploding smartphones have done, for consumers and associates alike.

“I deeply apologize to all of our customers, carriers, retail, and distribution partners, and all of our business partners,” DJ Koh, President of Samsung Mobile, said in a speech.

Samsung was joined by three independent industry groups in the latest investigation. They found that batteries in the first batch of Galaxy Note 7 phones were too big. The batteries apparently did not fit properly, which caused some to overheat significantly.

Once it detected the malfunctioning battery and recalled the first massive shipment, Samsung started manufacturing with a different battery from another supplier.

Apparently, though, the new battery had another defect that also caused overheating. (RELATED: Samsung Tests Its Own Batteries, Detected No Problems Prior To Explosions)

Samsung ultimately recalled all Galaxy Note 7 smartphones, and soon after canceled the manufacturing and distribution of the product.

The electronics company was forced to apologize to China in October after being accused of not properly communicating the problems with the Galaxy Note 7 to the country. In an unrelated incident, Samsung also announced in December that it was ending a business agreement with a foreign company after several allegations of abusive conditions for workers were discovered.

Samsung outlines measures it has taken within the report of the latest investigation to ensure that dangerous combustion does not occur again. One of which is creating a “Battery Advisory Group of external advisers, academic and research experts to ensure it maintains a clear and objective perspective on battery safety innovation,” reads the official press release. (RELATED: These Pictures Show The Horrifying Result Of Samsung’s Phone Explosions)

Samsung did not respond for comment at the time of this article being written.
