Dems Reach Their Last Resort: Actually Talking To People

I don’t know about you, but I just spent eight years talking back to my leaders and they either ignored me, insulted me, or… I guess that was about it. Those two tactics. Which is a big reason the Democrats are no longer in power. They didn’t listen. They treated us like we work for them, not the other way around.

Maybe they’re finally learning? Burgess Everett, Politico:

Senate Democrats geared up for battle with President Donald Trump by preparing to talk to people who voted for him — and by hearing from one of his arch-nemeses.

Gathering in Shepherdstown, W.Va., Democrats were scheduled to hear from liberal political operative David Brock on Thursday, who ran a session called “Hold Trump Accountable…”

Former Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear (D), along with Sens. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) and Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), held a session on “speaking to those who feel invisible in rural America,” according to the schedule. Other sessions were along similar lines: “Listening to those feel unheard” and “Rising America — They feel unheard too.”

Yeah, they certainly do. I know, because before the election, I didn’t hear them. I assumed all the smart fellers were right and Hillary was a lock. But as it turns out, the people who’ve been marginalized and demonized for the past decade were just waiting for their chance to vote. A lot of them had to hold their noses in the voting booth, but it was better than giving more power to the creeps who treated them like dirt. It was better than letting them continue to escape accountability for their actions.

It remains to be seen whether the Dems will learn their lesson, but this sounds like a good start. Talk to people. Then: Listen. And that goes for the Republicans too, for that matter. It’s fun to win, but arrogance comes at a steep price.

Just ask Hillary.

P.S. If you’re in Shepherdstown today, be sure to bundle up. Wherever David Brock goes, he always brings plenty of snow!
