Steve Wynn, billionaire casino owner and President Donald Trump’s long-time business competitor, is slated to become the next finance chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), Axios reports.

Wynn served as the finance chairman for Trump’s inaugural committee that raised over $90 million. While Wynn proved helpful leading up to the inauguration, the move to make him RNC finance chairman by the Trump administration has many confused, given Wynn and the president’s colored past.

The two real estate moguls have sued each other numerous times, ending in lengthy settlement disputes. The two have even taken jabs at one another in the public arena. Trump wrote in his 1987 book, “The Art Of The Deal,” that Wynn was a “very strange guy.”

Wynn has called Trump “all hat, no cattle.” Wynn even donated $2,700 to Florida Sen. Marco Rubio’s 2016 presidential run, an early competitor of Trump in the election.

Despite their history, the two have seemed to bury the hatchet in recent months. Wynn ousted designer Tom Ford’s designer goods from his casinos after Ford refused to design clothing for First Lady Melania Trump. For his part, the president has reciprocated by bringing Wynn in on the inaugural committee.

The billionaire, like the president, has a history of donating to both Republican and Democratic candidates. In 2016, however, the year that mattered most for Trump, Wynn donated $833,000 to Republican committees.

Wynn played a pivotal role in the revitalization of the Las Vegas strip in the 1990s. Working his way up in the casino business for decades, Wynn’s name is now synonymous with elite establishments across the U.S. and the world. His most famous undertaking is the landmark five-star Bellagio hotel and casino.
