People are not happy about a new TV show centered on singling out white people for a grand, multi-episode lecture about racism.

The Netflix announcement for “Dear White People” has already garnered 89,809 dislikes on YouTube. With 370, 322 views, the video only has 4,393 likes.

The T.V. show, based off the movie with the same title, claims to examine racism and discrimination at a majority white college. The T.V. announcement shows a black girl telling white people what type of Halloween costumes are acceptable for them to wear.

“Dear white people. Here’s a list of acceptable Halloween costumes: pirate, slutty nurse, any of our first 43 presidents. Top of the list of unacceptable costumes: me,” the girl says before showing images of white people in black face.

YouTube commenters were quick to accuse Netflix of racism and denounce the show itself.

“Racism will not be tolerated, Netflix. I won’t be surprised if your stocks go down,” one person said.

“I have NEVER seen a modern day white person in black face. Go race bait somewhere else, “another commenter wrote.

One person claimed that they canceled their Netflix subscription over the commercial.

“Just cancelled and left a very explicit feedback as to why. Do it White people. Just do it,” the person wrote.
